A contempora­ry lager from the old guard, and a traditiona­l dry stout from a newer Irish brewery.

Guinness Hop House 13 Lager (LCBO 536227, 500 mL, $2.95) is brewed using the Guinness yeast strain and Irish barley. A modern lager boasting bread-crust and stone fruit aromas, and a distinct citrusy hop finish. O’Hara’s Nitro Irish Stout

(LCBO 20013, 440 mL, $2.95) was first brewed in 1999. This Irish stout has a robust, roasted coffee-like aroma and a velvety mouth feel. Fuggle hops lend an earthy, leafy character to the lingering finish.
