ZÉROS La police de Montréal pour avoir traité de manière cavalière la performeuse trans montréalaise Atif Siddiqi (connu.e aussi sous le nom de Tranie Tronic) après que Siddiqi (qui préfère s’identifier au «iel») ait rapporté qu’iel a été agressé.e sexuellement et volé.e en mars dernier, alors que la police a rejeté catégoriquement les prétentions de Siddiqi. Bravo à Atif pour avoir dénoncé publiquement cette situation !
ZÉRO Pour la gagnante de la sixième saison de RuPaul’sDragRace, Bianca Del Rio, qui s’est cru tout permis — alors qu’elle était l’animatrice du spectacle DragSuperstars, lors de Fierté Montréal—en faisant des farces sur une queen de la 10e saison, victime de viol.

HÉROS Le Théâtre Buddies in Bad Times de Toronto, pionnier du théâtre gai, qui célèbre ses 40 ans durant sa saison artistique 2018-2019 et un héros malgré le fait de leur mésentente avec le cofondateur du théâtre et ex-directeur artistique, Sky Gilbert, entourant l’annulation de la lecture publique, le 19 novembre, de l’oeuvre de Gilbert (de 1986) « DragQueensInOuter Space », après que Gilbert ait publié le 10 novembre un poème intitulé « I’mAfraidOf‘Woke People’ », sur son site web. Ce poème était destiné à l’auteure trans Vivek Shraya en réponse à sa récente oeuvre « I’mAfraidofMen ».
ZÉROS La Commission scolaire catholique du District de London ainsi que la Commission scolaire du District de la Thames Valley, en Ontario, pour avoir retiré le financement du Grand Theatre High School Project pour la présentation de « PromQueen:TheMusical », basée sur l’histoire vraie d’un adolescent gai d’Oshawa, Marc Hall qui, en 2002, s’était vu refuser par la Commission scolaire catholique Durham d’aller à cette fête avec son amoureux. Par contre, une campagne de sociofinancement a permis d’amasser sufisamment de fonds pour que le Grand Theatre puisse jouer la pièce du 18 au 29 septembre. Ce musical avait reçu des critiques élogieuses lors de sa création au Centre Segal de Montréal, en 2016.

HERO turns 40 Toronto’s during their trailblazing current Buddies 2018-2019 in season, Bad Times and Theatre, a hero despite which their unfortunate estrangement with Buddies co-founder and former artistic director Sky Gilbert, following the cancellation of the Nov. 19 reading of Gilbert’s 1986 play Drag Queens In Outer Space, after Gilbert published a poem entitled I’m Afraid Of ‘Woke People’ on his website on Nov. 10. The poem was addressed to trans author Vivek Shraya in response to her recently published book I’m Afraid Of Men.
ZEROES The London District Catholic School Board and the Thames Valley District School Board in Ontario, who withdrew their financial support for the Grand Theatre’s High School Project which presented Prom Queen: The Musical, based on the true story of gay Oshawa teenager Marc Hall’s 2002 fight with the Durham Catholic School Board to bring his boyfriend to the prom. A crowdfunding campaign enabled the musical to run at the Grand Theatre from Sept. 18 to 29. The critically-hailed musical originally premiered at The Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal in 2016.
