GIVING TRAVELLERS EXCITING OPTIONS
Each season the Stratford Festival welcomes over 500,000 visitors from around the world. We’re delighted to host theatre-goers of all ages and backgrounds, who join us to experience world-class productions and events.
Roughly 35 per cent of visitors to the Stratford Festival come from outside Toronto and southwestern Ontario. These patrons have a wonderful transportation option in the Region of Waterloo International Airport, conveniently located only 40 minutes from Stratford. The airport offers plentiful, inexpensive parking, great food and friendly, approachable staff.
Chicago – Twice Daily
The airport has been very supportive of the Festival’s new push into the Chicago marketplace, which encourages travellers to take advantage of American Airlines’ daily flights to Waterloo Region. Visitors to the area find much to enjoy in Waterloo Region and Perth County, including farmers’ markets, culinary and music festivals, walking and biking trails, beautiful golf clubs and, of course, outstanding theatre.
With a playbill of a dozen classics, modern masterworks and cherished musicals on stage between May and October, the Festival features some of the finest actors, singers and dancers from Canada and abroad. Our 2014 productions have been selected around the season theme of Madness: Minds Pushed to the Edge, which creates an even richer theatre experience by allowing visitors to make connections between the different shows they see. Audiences can then share their thoughts with each other and with exciting guests at one of the 200 talks, showcases, comedy nights and workshops that are being presented through the new Stratford Festival Forum.
Non-Stop Excitement
This season’s line-up includes King Lear, starring Colm Feore, two unique versions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, our family production of Alice Through the Looking Glass and the beloved musicals Crazy for You and Man of La Mancha. We’re excited to welcome visitors to Stratford, and we know that the Region of Waterloo International Airport will provide them with unparalleled service on their journey here.
