This is more of a trail-running shoe than an approach shoe. But light shoes work better for summer approaches than bulky, heavy, thick boots. The Ascend Glove comes with a Vibram soul, which works wonders on glacier ice and scree. The best feature is the shoe is made for barefeet; the mesh liner lets it breathe. The only downside is falling scree can hit your ankle bones, so be quick on your feet and these shoes are the approach shoe of choice.
