is a Montreal-based artist who specialize­s in abstract painting. “To allow something that I do not control to have an action, to allow oneself to br ing this action into a materialit­y: this is why I make art,” Leduc, who started climbing in 1979, shared with Leduc painted her first portrait, using oil paint, about 10 years ago. After exper imenting with different processes she now paints abstract art. “It is a medium I feel most at home with,” said Leduc. “My work is very much about process. Although abstract in nature, there is an underlying visual order that gradually seems to emerge. Working intuitivel­y, I enter a realm of the unknown where there is more of a following than any real choice.”

Describing her art as a hybrid of abstractio­n and representa­tion, the paintings use soft and bold colours, fused with detailed images. “I seem to be forever adjusting the framework of some invisible reality. I often use climbers as a subject, I use them to introduce viewers to the abstract experience,” said Leduc about a recent series of paintings featuring
