has four cam­ming lobes, two are one size and the other two are a size smaller. This makes this spr ing-loaded cam­ming de­vice use­ful in Squamish or Val David or any­where else there are pin scars or flared place­ments.They are es­sen­tial when aid climb­ing and can be use­ful for free climb­ing. Off­set cams are of­ten the only cam which can pro­tect a flared crack. These cams are meant for non-uni­form place­ments. The two main off­set cams are the X4 and the Mas­ter Cam.

X4 Off­set The X4 Off­set is de­signed to pro­tect flar ing cracks like no other with their large ex­pan­sion range and off­set lobe de­sign. They have a nar­row head width, a flex­i­ble stem with alu­minum beads meant to pro­tect the ca­ble and a colour-coded Dyneema sling for quick iden­ti­fi­ca­tion. These are BD’s new­est cam and will hit the mar­ket this spr ing.

Mas­ter Cam Off­set One of the first off­set cam­ming de­vices to hit the mar­ket, the first be­ing the hybr id Alien off­set. A sin­gle-stem cam with great flex­i­bil­ity, it has all of the ben­e­fits of the Mas­ter Cam, but can fit into awk­ward pin scars. A must-have for shal­low, awk­ward cracks on any aid climb
