New Splitter Route in Bugaboos Jon Walsh and Alik Berg made the first free ascent of Welcome to the Machine 5.11+ 13 pitches on the east face of Snowpatch Spire, a new route Walsh had started in 2014 with Michelle Kadatz.

Ueli Steck Completes 82 Summits In July, the “Swiss Machine” Ueli Steck completed the Alps’ 82 summits challenge in only 62 days, which is not fast enough to beat the existing record. He climbed all 82 peaks over 4,000 metres travelling between using muscle power.

Edge of Pan Jesse Huey made the second free ascent of Edge of Pan 5.13. The route is on the Pan Wall on the Chief above Squamish. Not long after his send, Brette Harrington made the third ascent.

Vikkie Weldon Sends Hard Crack Vikki Weldon sent Adder Crack 5.13 at the Longhouse in Squamish. The route was first climbed by Hazel Findlay.

Greenland Bigwall Climbed Leo Houlding, Matt Pickles, Matt Pycroft, Waldo Etheringto­n and Joe Mohle made the first ascent of the 1,200- metre Greenland granite monolith called Mirror Wall via Ref lections E6 6b/5.12c A3+.

New Hard Route on The Chief Tony McLane and Jorge Ackermann made the first ascent of The Daily Universe, a new 5.12b extension to the already classic 5.12a route on the Sheriff ’s Badge called The Daily Planet. The new nine-pitch route is the first free climb through the big roofs of the “badge.”

New Lion’s Head 5.14 Daniel Martian climbed a new 5.14a next to the classic Titan at Lion’s Head he called Atlas Shrugged. It is 35 metres and follows great rock. The crux is pumpy “old-school face climbing” with trickery and slopers.
