Slow down, climb deliberately When the pump starts adding up most climbers have a tendency to start rushing in an effort to climb faster. It’s counterintuitive, but when your forearms are getting tired it pays off to take your time and climb efficiently. When you rush you won’t use your feet as effectively, quickly increasing your fatigue. If you are climbing on technical holds, climbing fast can make you more likely to make a mistake and fall off. While brute strength is often necessary in hard drytooling, good technique and a steady hand will get further on true mixed routes.
