Where are you from and where are you based now? I am from Richmond, B.C. and currently based between Richmond and the Laurentians in Quebec.
Where and what was your first climb? My first climb was at Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island as part of an outdoor education program through junior high school. It was probably just a 5.4 as I was toproping it with runners on.
Was it love at first climb? Not right away. I started to love climbing when I joined an outdoors club at ubc during my first year at university and simultaneously started to train at an indoor climbing gym.
What is your training routine like? I love to work out so it’s not hard for me to train. I generally boulder indoors during the winter season in combination with weight training, yoga and running. During my outdoor climbing season, I continue to do antagonistic muscle training, but focus on the climbing.
Have you dealt with injuries and how do you prevent them? Yes, I had to stop climbing for several years due to elbow tendonitis and also suffered from a long-term Achilles problem developed from long-distance running. I’ve learned to listen to my body as I get older and try not to over train.
