Squamish’s Hardest Multi-pitch

-

Sonnie Trotter sent the Prow Wall, an eight-pitch 5.14 on The Chief, at the start of May. With Tom Wright belaying, Trotter managed to link the hard moves on his second ground-up push in five years. The long-time project was on climber’s radar for over 20 years. After his send, Trotter said, “This was one of the better days of climbing I can remember and one of the best routes I’ve done.” It took him three attempts to send the crux 5.14 fourthpitch. The rest of the route goes at 5.10c, 5.10b, 5.12a, 5.14, 5.11c, 5.13a, 5.12b, 5.12a. It is the only 5.14 multi-pitch on The Chief and the hardest in Squamish.
