Twin Falls is a hub for base jumpers and attracts jumpers from around the world.

Twin Falls was an unlikely destination. I wasn’t sure I was going to find what I had expected. Things were feeling tropical when I descended into the Magic Valley to the shores of Dierkes Lake. A basalt wall with sport routes towered high above the canyon f loor. The valley had an abundance of big boulders. My exploration didn’t pass the first bouldering area. There was no shortage of company. In my first three hours, I encountered close to 10 snakes of various species. Though we are pretty certain none were poisonous, it’s sometimes better to not double check and just move on. Rattlers are scarce in the upper sections of the valley and are most commonly found farther south. Bull snakes rule those parts and are known to feast on rattlers.
