Marc-Andre Leclerc’s Historic Patagonia Winter

-

Marc-Andre Leclerc returned to Patagonia in September and October for the last few weeks of the austral winter. He made the first solo of Torre Egger in winter. The ascent was the second solo of the peak and the second winter ascent. Leclerc, with the support of Austin Siadak, went on to make the first free ascent of Titanic up Torre Egger. Titanic is now a 950- metre 5.12b WI4 M5. It took Leclerc and Siadak two days with a bivy on the snowfield halfway up. The 5.12 crux was a slopey undercling to slabby boulder problem on the upper headwall.
