Mirkwood Forest

Gripped - - NATIVE STONES -

The Mirkwood Forest crag is located just off the approach trail to The Coliseum and offers an alternative warm-up option as well as being a destination in its own right. The crag houses easy to moderate trad lines on a vertical wall in a quiet forest setting. The wall rarely sees the sun, which makes it a perfect destination on a hot sunny day. The f lip side, however, is that the damp winters leave it covered in a green carpet of moss. Expect at least a little scrubbing to be required on your f irst visit, but don’t let it deter you from the quality lines hidden beneath. In the words of guidebook author Al Agopsowicz, “Old school West Coasters keep a wire brush on their harness.”
