2016 Sonnie

PATAGONIA

In the winter of 2017, Sonnie Trotter took his first-ever trip to Patagonia. Once there, he met up with Quebec climber Sam Lambert. The two teamed up for some shorter alpine granite routes during the short weather windows. Lambert spent a few extra weeks in the area, but the poor weather shut down most big pushes.

On one day out, Trotter and Lambert climbed the eight-pitch Le Media Docena. The 5.11+ R had no bolts or fixed gear and the pair made the likely second ascent. Between attempts up high, climbers would spend hours working bouldering problems down near town. Below is a photo essay by Trotter from his first trip to the range.
