Tasting Fear

This short and burly WI4+ pitch is composed of a number of pillars that form differently most seasons. There can be WI4 lines and WI5+. The trees at the top provide good anchors and you can continue for another pitch of easier ice. The large pool at the base often isn’t frozen until mid-season, but you can rappel in from the trees. There is a lot of avalanche hazard so pick your day wisely.

Getting there: Park at Galetea, same as for Kidd Falls and A Bridge Too Far. Go over Kananaskis River and along Galatea Creek until a small canyon below the trail where you can see the climbs. Walk down to the creek and the climbs.
