Mount Wil­son in along the Icef ields Park­way in Al­berta has tall quartzite tow­ers that have drawn some at­ten­tion over the past 20 years. The most re­cent new route was by Niall Hamill and Grant Ste­wart have made the f irst as­cent of Prairie Gold on Peyto Tower. The eight-pitch 5.11c climbs 280 me­tres of face and crack sys­tems. It climbs golden up­per di­he­drals on the left side of the big face. “Un­be­liev­able that only one other route ex­ists on this face (The Marra/Richard­son 5.9 A1) and has seen lit­tle ac­tion,” said Hamill.
