Mount Wilson in along the Icef ields Parkway in Alberta has tall quartzite towers that have drawn some attention over the past 20 years. The most recent new route was by Niall Hamill and Grant Stewart have made the f irst ascent of Prairie Gold on Peyto Tower. The eight-pitch 5.11c climbs 280 metres of face and crack systems. It climbs golden upper dihedrals on the left side of the big face. “Unbelievab­le that only one other route exists on this face (The Marra/Richardson 5.9 A1) and has seen little action,” said Hamill.
