The 5.14 Rockies Trilogy Repeated (Twice)

In 2017, Sonnie Trotter completed his Rockies Alpine Trilogy in one season, which included his three routes: The 15- pitch War Hammer 5.14, the 15- pitch The Shining Uncut 5.14 and the sixpitch Blue Jeans Direct 5.14. This summer, Sasha DiGiulian and Mike Doyle repeated each route, DiGiulian about one week before Doyle. They climbed War Hammer together and then had other partners for the final two routes. After DiGiulian completed Blue Jeans Direct, she said, “It’s tough to figure out which of the big walls was the hardest. This line definitely has the most difficult isolated moves to it, including this sequence right here in which the foot holds are negligible, the wall angle steepens and the hand holds are pretty inventive.”
