New Alpine Club of Canada Sections
During the Alpine Club of Canada (acc) 2018 Annual General Meeting, acc board members unanimously voted for the creation of new sections, one being Great Plains. “The new acc section will serve the ‘Treaty Four Lands of Great Plains’ that will encompass the majority of southern Saskatchewan with its operating centre in Regina,” said a press release. “The new section will provide a great opportunity for who live a little too far away from Saskatchewan Section headquarters in Saskatoon but still want to take part in the acc community.”
The newest section of the acc, designated at the club’s board meeting in late October, is based out of Revelstoke, B.C., a mountain town with deep roots in exploration and guiding. The following is a press release from the acc: The section will represent a hugely historically important mountain area and will fill in the space on the acc membership map between our Okanagan (B.C.) and Rocky Mountain (Alberta) sections. In addition to Revy, the Columbia Mountains Section will service climbers, hikers and skiers from Golden to Salmon Arm and include the Caribou, Monashee, Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges.
