LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON

-

Home to the famous Great White Icicle, this place is a great choice for beginners. Easily accessible off the freeway, you can simply park up the canyon and follow the footpath to the base of the climb.

Since it’s quite famous you’ll often find it crowded with other beginners, so if you’re a bit more experienced or perhaps don’t like crowded routes this might not be the best choice. Located on the south side of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Scruffy Band is a one pitch with multiple possible routes. Little Cottonwood Canyon is known for falling ice, so don’t forget to bring a helmet. Classic ice routes include: The Great White Icicle WI3, four pitches; Hanging Slab Gully WI3, three pitches; Cold Duck WI4; and Scruffy Band WI3.
