CALI COOL

Made for Living: Collected Interiors for All Sorts of Styles By Amber Lewis

Popular interior designer Amber Lewis exemplifies the breezy West Coast look that’s drawn legions of fans to her blog, allsortsof.com, and her three retail shops. Based in Calabasas, Calif., Amber grew up collecting shells on the beaches of Malibu — and her affinity for natural materials is one reason her aesthetic resonates. “Nature isn’t a trend, so it can’t really ever go out of style,” she says. Made for Living is packed with the designer’s tips for perfect wall colours, go-to white paints and styling advice, but the kitchens alone, with their inviting designs full of character, make the book worth buying. “My kind of elusive, laid-back California cool can be had anywhere — whether you live in a Manhattan apartment or in the middle of suburbia,” she says. Clarkson Potter/ Publishers, 2020, $54.
