HOTEL TO HOME

- By Sophie Bush

Warehouse Home, 2021, $60

If you’ve ever stayed at a trendy hotel and wished you could recreate that look, this book offers a blueprint to tap the mystique of cool hangouts like Soho House Chicago and the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. Hotel to Home breaks down how industrial elements such as raw plaster, polished concrete and painted brick translate into residential design. We asked author and former travel editor Sophie Bush for some tips.

H&H: What are your favourite ways to bring the hotel look home?

SB: Hotels solve common interior design problems, like providing storage when space is limited.

Steel wall racks and brass hanging rails are stylish solutions for small rooms, and they feel cool and contemporary. Investing in good bedding is also an easy way to inject a sense of hotel luxury, as well as paying attention to the way a room is lit. I love how warehouse windows are influencing the design of mirrors, cabinets and even shower screens.

H&H: Why did you choose these hotels for the book?

SB: All of the hotels featured are situated in genuine industrial conversions; I wanted to celebrate the diversity and character of industrial buildings.

This book offers ideas for every space and budget.
