The funeral for Anna Banks, wife of the late Robert “Bob” Banks of Summerside, was held on Monday, April 9, 2012, from the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Brian Macdougall, who delivered the homily and proclaimed the Gospel. Cross bearer was John Perry. Candle bearers were Rene Richard and Stan Arsenault. Incense bearer was Windsor Arsenault. The first reading was given by Tom Banks and the second by Diane Vessey. Ann Kilbride-macdonald led in the prayers of the faithful. The procession­al hymn was “Here I Am Lord.” Congregati­onal hymns were “In the Garden” and “I am the Bread of Life.” Soloist Lydia Banks rendered “How Great Thou Art.” The recessiona­l hymn was “Amazing Grace.” St. Paul’s Funeral Choir was under the direction of Noella Richard. Organist was Meghan Bowen. Ushers were Eleanor Doiron and Yvonne Gallant. Parking attendant was Gordie Arsenault. Attending the funeral mass were management and staff of APM, members of St. Paul’s Catholic Women’s League who also formed an honour guard, management and staff of Home Hardware, and MLA Gerard Greenan. Pallbearer­s were Ira David Smith, Derwin Banks, Jimmy Yeo, Allison Kilbride, Eddie O’brien and Jimmy Banks. Flower bearers were Sonya (Banks) Sheen, Caroline (Banks) Watts, Julia (Kilbride) Macdougall, Karen (Banks) Mcquaid, Susan Kilbride Roper, Kendra (Kilbride) Macintyre, Cathy Macintyre, and Kathy (Banks) Rand. Interment will take place later in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. On Saturday night, members of St. Paul’s Catholic Women’s League held a prayer service at the funeral home lead by Linda Yeo, assisted by Eleanor Doiron, with Louise Doiron as reader.
