Fallback band provides music for weekly dances at Kensington Legion.

Snackbar Productions is back with their best dance moves for a new spring dance series —”Spring Ahead with FallBack!” These dances take place every Thursday night at the Kensington Legion from 8 to 11 p.m.

This string of dances features the music of the Fallback Band, a lively offering of ’50s and ’60s rock n’ roll, jives and twists, and builds on the success of their popular fall series held throughout October and November last year. The Fallback Band consists of Scott White, guitar and voice - formerly of bands Mr. Burns and Numan; Dale Gaudet, guitar and voice – of BlueShank and Mr. Burns; Johnny Ross, the “Piano-man” of The Ross Family and nominatee for Island Musician of the Year; Wayne Robichaud, drums and voice, of The Dave Doyle Band & Panou; Tom Desroches, bass and voice, of The Dave Doyle Band and Midnight Haller; Steve Guy, saxophone and resident, of The West End Blues Band. Together, these musicians have over 100 years of experience entertaining Islanders and fans from abroad, and are excited to be coming back for another group of dates this spring. “We’ve been hearing from our regulars and they’re very excited to get back to the old wooden dance floor,” says White. “While we love to see and meet new patrons, we take real pleasure from walking out in the crowd and greeting our guests by name. We have the best dancers in the world.” “I’m really proud of what we’ve already done here,” says Gaudet. “In an age where bars are fighting for patrons and bands argue for gigs, we just decided to put on a good ol’ rock show, in the same spirit and place that our musical forefathers did 50 years ago.”

“This series will see a few special events,” adds Robichaud. “We are looking at having guest appearances of Island Rock Royalty, a chance to make music with the guys who paved the way for us. We also have plans to release an album of new ’50s-inspired songs written, performed, and recorded by ourselves. We hope to start offering the CD at our dances in May.” The series began on April 7 at 8 p.m. and continues every Thursday through April, May and June. Admission is $10 at the door, for this 19 and over event. There is also a 50/50 draw featured at the events with proceeds going to the local food bank.
