Everybody worships

- Ian Kurylyk is pastor at Summerside Fundamental Baptist Church.

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3)

This is the first of the Ten Commandments and expresses God’s primary concern for mankind. It is interesting that the issue as God sees it is not whether a person worships or not but whom he worships. It is very important to grasp the true nature of the choices we face personally.

The false model or paradigm that is being foisted on everybody is that they have a choice between being worshippers or non-religious. It is the day of the religious “none.”

This thinking is the result of the intense pressure of the machinery of communication and information preaching the gospel of Secular Humanism, as a supposed alternative to being a worshipper.

This same lie was inherent in the words of the serpent in the original temptation of man in the Garden of Eden, “Ye shall be as gods.”

The real nature of the transaction that took place when mankind became sinners has since then been demonstrated by thousands of years of idol worship.

Because this became so obvious, for many, many years the paradigm of worshipping either the God of the Bible or an assortment of idols was not really questioned.

“And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.” (Judges 10:6)

When God revealed Himself further by the love and grace that came through His Son Jesus Christ, it ended the question of who was the true God for large tracts of the human race – especially the Western World. Though many stopped short of becoming Born Again Christians, yet open idolatry was driven “underground” by the light of the Gospel.

Now, as the last days draw near, the world is throwing off its pretense of real Christianity and the old lie of Satan that man need not worship is being recycled.

Bible prophecy clearly tells us where this is going in a Satan worshipping global order. Once the things of Christianity are removed, the antichrist will step in to fill the void.

Now is the time to escape this flood by a personal faith in Jesus Christ who died and rose again to restore us to the worship of the One True God.
