P.E.I. under-13s ties again, under-14s lose in Atlantic championship action Friday in Charlottetown
Two games and two ties for the P.E.I. under-13 team at the under-13 and under-14 girls Atlantic soccer championships Friday in Charlottetown.
P.E.I. tied Nova Scotia 2-2 after P.E.I. carried a 2-1 lead into halftime on two goals by Paige MacLean only countered by a goal from Nova Scotia’s Jenna Turner.
But N.S.’s Ciera Oliver Dares tied the game in the second frame and neither team could pot the winner.
P.E.I. and Nova Scotia are tied for second at 0-0-2 (two points each), while New Brunswick leads the standings at 1-0-1 (four points) and Newfoundland and Labrador is fourth at 0-1-1 (one point). N.B. shutout Newfoundland and Labrador 2-0 thanks to goals from Alexsis Roy and Meghan Cole.
Games continue Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. when P.E.I. faces New Brunswick, then at noon N.L and N.S. faceoff.
In under-14, P.E.I. lost to Nova Scotia on two goals by Misha Fleet. Carly Thompson had the Island goal. Nova Scotia moved to 2-0 (six points) in the round robin, while P.E.I. fell to 0-1-1 (one point). Newfoundland and Labrador defeated New Brunswick 2-0 on two scores by Breanna Gilmore and is in second place with a 1-0-1 record. N.B. is last at 0-2-0.
Saturday, P.E.I. tangles with N.B. at 2 p.m. and N.L. and N.S. fight it out at 4 p.m.

Boys
The Under-14 P.E.I. boys team defeated Nova Scotia 4-1 on Thursday with goals from Sam Akinsola, Tony Nguyen (2) and Julian Jones. They lost a close 1-0 game Friday versus Newfoundland and Labrador. A win today puts them in the final.
The under-13 squad tied 1-1 with Nova Scotia on Thursday with Liam Woods scoring a screamer.
They bested Newfoundland and Labrador 2-1 on Friday after being down 1-0 with goals from Jack Roberts and James Doucette. A win or a tie versus New Brunswick puts them in the final.
