New ceilidhs at Stanley Bridge WI Hall

-

Award winning P.E.I. musicians Dino Dunsford and Gary Chipman team up to present a new ceilidh every Wednesday evening with the next performance set for Aug. 9 at the Stanley Bridge WI Hall.

The ceilidhs will run every Wednesday for the month of August.

The pair’s long-time friends Alan “Postie” Connolly and Blair Coughlin will join them as well as a step-dancer each night.

They promise the music will be lively, Maritime-flavoured and chock-full of fiddle tunes, stories and traditional Prince Edward Island stepdancing.

“Dino and I have been playing music together for a lot of years and this is the first ceilidh we’ve co-presented,” says Chipman. “You can expect music ranging from Stompin’ Tom Connors to Rita MacNeill to Elvis.”

Both Chipman and Dunsford are no strangers to the P.E.I. music scene with many awards, accolades and recordings to their credit. More recently, the two have been playing regularly at various ceilidhs, dance halls and festivals across the Island.

The Sterling Women’s Institute operate the Stanley Bridge hall which hosts ceilidhs six nights a week during the summer months. The Women’s Institute supports many local charities, such as the QEH Foundation, and their ceilidhs are fundraisers for the hall. The hall is air-conditioned and there will be strawberries and ice cream for sale at intermission.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is at the door. The hall is located at 4897 St. Mary’s Road, Stanley Bridge. For more information, contact 902-314-1865.
