Operation Christmas Child launches another season with kickoff event

-

It’s shoebox gift time with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) P.E.I. launching its fall campaign at the annual kickoff event.

The event, slated for Oct. 14 at 6:45 p.m. at their regional collection centre, the Grace Baptist Centre in Charlottetown. “We’re pleased to have Darren Murray, our OCC regional manager, with us as our special speaker this year. He led a shoebox gift distribution trip to Senegal last spring and so comes with wonderful, first-hand stories of the impact your shoebox gifts are making,” said Christina Lehmann, OCC P.E.I.’s area coordinator and regional logistics. In addition to Murray’s presentation, a series of videos will show the impact OCC has around the world. Operation Christmas Child is one of the most popular programs of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and development organization doing charitable work worldwide – responding right now to many spots around the world suffering from hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters.

For OCC, individuals, families, churches, schools and business and civic groups all participate in filling shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene and personal items, small clothing, toys and other gifts. These shoebox gifts are then sent all over the world to millions of children.
