View, in her

84th year, occurred at the

Ottawa Heart Institute on Monday January 8, 2018.

She was born in Summerside on April 17 1934, the only child of late Earle and Elizabeth (Beairsto) MacKay. Wife of J. Darrach Murray. Mother of Ross Murray (Alex Houghton) and Kenneth (Kimberley) Murray. She doted upon her grandchildren, Wynn and Katie Murray. All will miss her terribly! She was predeceased by her son Steven Murray. Joyce attended Sea View School, Prince of Wales College and the Prince County Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. Later that year, she married her Canadian Armed Forces husband and, as a result lived in every Canadian province east of Saskatchewan, except Newfoundland and Labrador. Also, she enjoyed three years in North-West Europe and probably most enjoyed Canadian postings in Toronto, Ottawa and especially Moncton. During her six-year stay in Orleans, Ontario, Joyce became the first, fully-qualified, female firefighter on the Queenswood Heights Volunteer Fire Department. For this, and similar activities throughout her life, she was awarded the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Tuesday January 16th from 8-9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in the New London People’s Cemetery. If so desired contributions may be made to the New London People’s Cemetery Fund. The funeral will be Live Streamed from the funeral home’s website on the day of the service. www. davisonfh.com
