Kensington, P.E.I.-Bedford, Que., Peewee Friendship Hockey Exchange
Miss Community Gardens Chloe Champion dropped the puck for Saturday night’s ceremonial opening faceoff for the Kensington, P.E.I.-Bedford, Que., Peewee Friendship Hockey Exchange, which is celebrating its 50th year. Kensington captain Landon Duffy, left, and Bedford captain Andy Coupal took the draw. Also taking part are, from left: Bob Bowness, honorary coach for Kensington; Lloyd Profitt, a founding member of the exchange from Kensington; Gordie Callaghan, a founding member of the exchange from Bedford, and Mac MacLean, honorary coach for Kensington. Bowness and MacLean coached 15 teams from Kensington over the 50 years of the exchange. In the back, from left, are past exchange participants from Kensington, Des Murphy, Peter MacLellan, Eric Howatt, Scott Stewart and Gregg Hogg and Rick Callaghan of Bedford. Over the years, Kensington has celebrated the contributions to the Kensington, P.E.I.-Bedford, Que., Peewee Friendship Hockey Exchange from delegates, players and community members who have passed way. The wives of the late Elmer Burt, the late Dave Martin and the late Dale Johnstone were presented with plaques recognizing their contributions during an on-ice ceremony at Community Gardens on Saturday night.
