Upcoming films in the Cineplex Events’ Classic Film Series include: “Doctor Dolittle” Feb. 18 and 21

Doctor Dolittle (Rex Harrison) is a world-renowned veterinari­an who speaks a wide array of animal languages. He sets off from his home in Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, England, in search of the Great Pink Sea Snail. In so doing, he and his friends meet such exotic creatures as the pushme-pullyu and the giant lunar moth. This musical is the source of the hit song, “If I Could Talk to the Animals.”

“To Kill a Mockingbir­d” March 11 and 14

Scout Finch (Mary Badham) and her older brother, Jem (Phillip Alford), live in sleepy Maycomb, Alabama, spending much of their time with their friend Dill (John Megna) and spying on their reclusive and mysterious neighbour, Boo Radley (Robert Duvall). When Atticus (Gregory Peck), their widowed father and a respected lawyer, defends a black man named Tom Robinson (Brock Peters) against fabricated rape charges, the trial and tangent events expose the children to evils of racism and stereotypi­ng.

The year is 1958 and Sandy and Danny are starting their final year at Rydell High School after a summer fling at the beach. After realizing they attend the same school, they try to rekindle their romance but Danny’s school persona is very different than the boy Sandy met at the beach. Will Sandy and Danny change who they are to be together? Audiences are along for the ride as the teens race cars, attend school dances and sing all their favourite songs.
