Susan Rankin holds onto her vest as she treks up Queen Street in Summerside as snow begins to fall and winds pick up. Blustery conditions began in Summerside over the lunch hour, as a snowfall warning took effect. Schools closed across the Maritimes ahead of Thursday’s low-pressure system. Environmen­t Canada says between 15 and 25 centimetre­s of snow is expected in P.E.I., northern Nova Scotia and eastern New Brunswick by Thursday evening. Up to 30 centimetre­s is called for Newfoundla­nd. The Confederat­ion Bridge is also warning of possible travel restrictio­ns due to high winds.
