MacAdam sparks Metros

Vipers see lead cut in half heading back to Kensington on Saturday

Affiliated player Grant MacAdam provided an offensive spark on Wednesday night. MacAdam, who played this season with the Charlottet­own Bulk Carriers Pride of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League, registered three assists to help the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros to a 6-3 win over the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers. The win cuts the Vipers’ lead in the bestof-seven Island Junior Hockey League semifinal series to 2-1, with Game 4 scheduled for Credit Union Centre in Kensington, previously Community Gardens, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. At the Cody Banks Arena, the teams were tied 1-1 after one period, and the Metros took a 4-3 advantage into the second intermissi­on. Colin Koughan, Cale Pierce, Barrington Duffy and Tanner Lund all contribute­d a goal and an assist for the Metros, who received single markers off the sticks of Dylan MacDonald and affiliated player Connor McGregor, who also played this season with the Pride. Taylor Runighan (2), Jordan Birt and Cody McPhee added assists.

For the Vipers, rookie CJ McCardle led the way with a twogoal effort while Nick Bouchey added the other. Garrett Murray (2), Logan Vanderveld­en (2) and Nathan Sanderson contribute­d helpers.

Overall, the Metros outshot the Vipers 43-29. Sam Walsh earned the goaltendin­g win. Rett Rook gave up four goals on 16 shots in 34 minutes of action, and Cameron Visser was beaten twice on 17 tests in 26 minutes. Game 5 will be at the Cody Banks Arena on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
