Summerside Police Services is investigating two separate incidents Wednesday which resulted in two people treated for knife wounds.

Around 2:30 a.m. on May 2, police were called to the Prince County Jail after a 36-year-old went to the facility and reported to a corrections staff that an acquaintance of hers was trying to hurt her.

Police attended, and the ensuing investigation revealed the woman and her acquaintance, a 44-year-old Summerside man, had been involved in a dispute in a Central Street apartment building.

Both the man and woman live in the building, but in separate units.

The man reported that during the argument, the woman produced two knives and stabbed him twice before he was able to flee the scene.

The man was treated at Prince County Hospital for injuries to his leg and abdomen, neither of which were life threatening. The woman was arrested and is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both parties involved in the incident are well known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing. In a second, separate incident around 5:15 p.m. on May 2, police received a report of a domestic dispute at a Granville Street apartment building. Upon arriving at the location, officers found a man bleeding from a shoulder injury.

The man reported that he and his common law partner were involved in an argument and he was stabbed in the shoulder.

As a result, a 25-year-old woman was arrested for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. The woman is being kept in custody pending a show cause hearing.

The was treated and released for a non-life-threatening injury at Prince County Hospital.
