The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is making a contribution to Air Show Atlantic 2018.

The $50,000 non-repayable contribution is to help stage and market the air show, which takes place at the Summerside Airport Aug. 25 and 26, and comes from ACOA’s Business Development Program. “There is much potential in the aerospace industry, and updated, adaptive infrastructure like Slemon Park attracts strategic investment and creates a path for long-term growth,” says Navdeep Bains, minister responsible for ACOA. Standard Aero, located in Slemon Park, has agreed to become the presenting corporate sponsor of Air Show Atlantic 2018 and will also sponsor performer Brent Handy, a former Snowbirds pilot who now flies an acrobatic Pitts S-2B biplane. “We continue to search for additional partners to support various expenses like: performer fees, portable toilet rentals, tents and fire and rescue services that total close to $500,000 needed to produce the show,” says Colin Stephenson, executive director of Air Show Atlantic. “Support from ACOA and Standard Aero are big steps in the right direction.”
