Charges laid in graf­fiti in­ci­dent

Po­lice re­sponded to re­port of sus­pi­cious be­hav­iour

Sum­mer­side Po­lice Ser­vices laid charges in a graf­fiti in­ci­dent that took place in the city this week.

At around 5:20 p.m. on Tues­day, po­lice re­ceived a re­port of a sus­pi­cious per­son in an al­ley be­tween two build­ings on Wa­ter Street. The per­son was re­ported to be wear­ing a hoodie and a ban­dana cov­er­ing their face. Po­lice at­tended the area and lo­cated the per­son in the al­ley who was found in the process of “tag­ging” the build­ing.

The sus­pect, a 27-year-old man, was ar­rested at the scene.

The man was re­leased from cus­tody and will appear in court at a later date to an­swer to one charge of mis­chief and an­other un­re­lated charge of theft un­der $5,000.

Po­lice in Sum­mer­side have re­ceived a large num­ber of re­ports of graf­fiti over the past few months and en­cour­age the pub­lic to re­port any in­stances of sus­pi­cious be­hav­iour.
