No sign of Lucy
Well-known duck hasn’t returned to make a nest at the Atlantic Superstore Garden Centre in Charlottetown
A well-known and popular spring resident on P.E.I. has yet to make an appearance this year.
Lucy, the local duck with the celebrity status who has made the Atlantic Superstore Garden Centre in Charlottetown her home for the past eight years, didn’t return this spring to have her babies. Superstore employee Mickayla Carragher said the duck is usually around the area this time of the year.
“There’s no sign of her. She should have been here for about a month now,” she told The Guardian on Thursday.
“Usually before we open, she’s here with her ducks.”
While this is her first summer working in the garden centre and she never had the chance to meet Lucy, Carragher, 19, said she’s more than a little familiar with the famous summer resident.
“She’s a celebrity. People come here just to see the duck. We even get phone calls, people calling in just to see if she’s here.”
For nearly a decade, Lucy could be seen with her ducklings in the Charlottetown garden centre. Last year she even had a male duck, Lucifer, who kept her company.
Mickayla Carragher, an employee at the Atlantic Superstore Garden Centre in Charlottetown, says there’s been no sign of Lucy the Duck this spring.
