-

The Mont-Carmel Parish Hall will be filled with music from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and P.E.I.

The Mont-Carmel Parish Hall will be filled with the music of Josiane Comeau from New Brunswick, Ian Foster from Newfoundland as well as P.E.I.’s Keelin Wedge this Sunday. There will also be step-dancing by Lydia Arsenault, Alexandra Mitchell, Isabelle and Maddie Richards. The July 15 concert is the second of eight shows, sponsored by Atlantic Lottery, presented every Sunday during the summer at the Mont-Carmel venue. Comeau is a 17-year-old singer from Dieppe, who has been performing for quite a few years already and has participated in numerous singing competitions in both New Brunswick and Québec. At age 14, she was selected to participate in “The Voice Kids” in France. Foster is an award-winning Canadian songwriter, music producer and filmmaker. He’s a road-worn troubadour with a keen poetic sense in his writing. His concerts are intimate and interactive – charged with emotion that will have the audience laughing then crying, captivated then clapping along. His music has been played on radio and television all over the world, and he has toured in Canada, the United States, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Italy. His latest film, “Keystone,” was named one of the top 10 short films of the year by the Calgary International Film Festival Wedge, a multi-instrumentalist originally from St. Louis, P.E.I., has performed on many stages on and off the Island. Playing traditional/contemporary/ country, she started playing her first instrument – the fiddle – at 5 years old, and has step-danced and sang since then too. Wedge is part of several musical groups including Fiddler’s Sons and another composed of artists from Ontario and P.E.I. called Fluffy Little Cowboys. She has two albums to her name, the most recent, “The Traditional Files,” launched in 2017. Keelin is working on two projects to be released this summer – one in collaboration with Courtney Hogan-Chandler for their duo called “Dark & Amber Rosin,” and the second a recording featuring Keelin’s voice. The concerts, presented by Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de MontCarmel (CDCPMC), happen every Sunday until Aug. 26. All concerts start at 7 p.m. and the doors of the hall, located at 5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel, open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the co-operative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.
