Victoria Park Sunset Series starts this week

The Victoria Park Sunset Series will take place at the Victoria Park Cultural Pavilion in Charlottet­own from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. This free event will feature four nights of movies and music with the picturesqu­e Victoria Park as the backdrop. The event will kick off on Aug. 29 with an outdoor screening of the romantic teen comedydram­a, “Love Simon” (Rated PG13), co-hosted by PEERS Alliance. On Thursday, Aug. 30, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” (Rated PG-13) will play on the outdoor screen. On Friday, August 31, Sean Casey, MP for Charlottet­own will co-host a screening of Disney/ Pixar’s, “Coco” (Rated PG), a vibrant tale of fun, family, and adventure. All movies will begin at 8:30 p.m. Blankets and folding chairs are encouraged. A blankets-only area will be identified onsite to ensure optimal viewing for all. Concession­s will be available for sale onsite (cash only). The fun continues on Saturday, Sept. 1, with Coastal Vibes 2.0, an evening of music with a talented lineup of musicians at the cultural pavilion. Bring chairs or blankets and dance moves to enjoy the free open-air concert to cap off the Victoria Park Sunset Series. It begins at 6 p.m. Catch headliners ECMAaward-winning singer/songwriter, Meaghan Blanchard, and alternativ­e indie-folk artist, Adyn Townes, along with musicians including Lawrence Maxwell, and Dennis Ellsworth and Kinley Dowling.
