‘Sustainable Tourism’
Awards gala and conference hosted by the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island set for Oct. 24
The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) is hosting the 2018 Tourism Excellence Awards Gala on Oct. 24, followed by the Tourism Conference on Oct. 25. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘sustainable tourism’. TIAPEI’s annual awards gala will start off the two-day event and recognize individuals in the tourism industry who have contributed professionalism and support to the industry on P.E.I. Charlottetown will be one of the stops for this year’s Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s Tourism Town Hall.
“With lots of hard work and coordination, this is slated to be a great day for sharing, asking questions and learning from local and national fellow industry professionals,” said Robert Jourdain, president of TIAPEI.
P.E.I. tourism operators are encouraged to join the discussion from TIAC, Destination Canada, the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and TIAPEI. This will run Oct. 25 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at The Rodd Charlottetown and is free to attend.
Jill Doucette, founder of Synergy Enterprises, will be the keynote speaker with a presentation on ‘Sustainability: Your Business and the Changing Environment.’ Doucette is the author of three books on sustainable business practices and her TED Talk titled “How Corporations Become Activists.”
Dee Enright, owner of Charlotte’s Rose Inn, in Charlottetown, will also speak to the audience by sharing her dedication for sustainable operations. Online registration for the TIAC Town Hall session, the awards gala and the conference can be done at: tiapei.pe.ca or contact the TIAPEI office at 902566-5008.
