- BY JOURNAL PIONEER STAFF newsroom@journalpioneer.com

The “Fund$ Info Fair” is inviting all francophone community organizations that would like to learn more about funding sources and grants available for projects or for hiring employees free of charge.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside.

“Last spring, we held a similar information fair for entrepreneurs. The participants greatly appreciated the event, so we thought it would be a great idea to organize a fair of this kind for community groups,” said Raymond J. Arsenault, event coordinator with the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of P.E.I.”

The Chamber is partnering with the Wellington Rural Action Centre to organize the full-morning event.

The morning will be divided into two parts.

In one half, federal and provincial government departments, agencies and organizations will each give 15-minute presentations on their support programs for organizations. Among the presenters will be the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the P.E.I. Department of Rural and Regional Development, Canadian Heritage and Wellington Rural Action Centre.

In the last half of the morning, presenters will speak about funding programs to help with the hiring of employees and interns. Among the presenters will be Service Canada, Skills P.E.I., the Employment Development Agency, Canada Summer Jobs, the PERCÉ internship program and LIENS Work Experience.

Following the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions or meet the presenters individually to briefly discuss project ideas and to set up official appointments. Those who attend must sign up by Wednesday, Nov. 14, by contacting Simone Gallant at: 902852-3439, Ext. 228, or by email at: simone@rdeeipe.org
