Asleep on the Blueshank
EDITORS NOTE: The following is a list of some of incidents and investigations by the Prince District RCMP from Oct. 29 – Nov. 4, 2018. A total of 124 occurrences were investigated.
A 24-year-old man fell asleep at the wheel on the Blueshank Road, Oct. 29.
Around 1:30 a.m. last Monday, he nodded off, crossed the road and drove into a deep ditch. East Prince RCMP arrived and found that, despite striking a pole and some trees, the driver had only minor injuries.
Three fires under investigation
Around 11 p.m. last Monday, Oct. 29, West Prince RCMP attended a vacant building fire in St. Edward. The RCMP believe the fire was deliberately set and continue to investigate.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, at about 11 p.m., West Prince RCMP went to a vacant building fire in Nail Pond. Also on Tuesday, around 11:30 p.m., the Mounties went to a vacant building fire in Roseville. The building was “fully engulfed” in flames. The RCMP believe this fire was also deliberately set and continue to investigate.
Skid-steer driver taken to hospital after collision
A man was taken to hospital after the skid-steer he was driving was hit by a vehicle Wednesday, Oct. 31 in the morning. An East Prince RCMP officer on patrol came upon the collision on Route 10 in Borden-Carleton around 7:30 a.m. Police say the vehicle driver couldn’t see the skid steer in the dark and drove into the back of it. The 51-year old driving the skid-steer was taken to Prince County Hospital by ambulance. The 36-year old driver in the other vehicle had only minor injuries.
