- JOURNAL PIONEER STAFF

The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild is offering the opportunity for a young minor hockey player to join the team for a road trip.

The Wild is hosting the Notre Dame Argos from Wilcox, Sask., in an exhibition game at Credit Union Centre in Kensington on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Minor hockey players who wear their team jersey to Tuesday’s game will receive a ballot for a draw that will take place during the game. One name will be selected, and that individual, along with a parent/guardian, will win the opportunity to travel with the Wild to a New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League game this season.

The Argos are in the Atlantic region for the Monctonian tournament, which begins on Thursday. The Wild, who have won seven league games in a row, is also taking part in the tournament. Kensington’s division includes Pictou County, N.S., Ajax, Ont., and College St-Hilaire. Kensington is in second place at 12-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), three points behind the league-leading Moncton Flyers (14-1-0).

Bennett MacArthur scored with 9.6 seconds remaining to give the Wild a 2-1 win over the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride Sunday at MacLauchlan Arena.

The goal came moments after a Pride cross-ice pass resulted in an icing during league play between the provincial rivals. Landon Clow and Keiran Gallant had the assists on the game-winning goal.

Noah Griffin gave the host Pride the lead 1:39 into the game with assists going to Luke Garnhum and Jacob Squires. Ryan Richards capitalized on a Pride turnover 25 seconds into the second period to tie it. Dixon MacLeod had the lone assist. Chad Arsenault made 25 saves for the victory while Erik MacInnis stopped 25 shots in the loss. Charlottetown dropped its third straight to fall to 6-7-1-0, including 2-6-1-0 on home ice.
