The New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League has made a decision on the status of a suspended game.

The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild and Moncton Flyers’ first-place showdown at Credit Union Centre in Kensington on Saturday night was called off in the second period due to an unexpected power outage. The teams were tied 1-1 at the conclusion of play.

The league, which made its decision via conference call on Tuesday night, announced in a media release that the game will be replayed in its entirety at a date to be announced later.

The Wild and Flyers are tied for top spot in the six-team league with 31 points each. Moncton is 15-1-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), and Kensington is 15-2-1. The teams also have two more post-Christmas meetings in Moncton – Saturday, Dec. 29, and Friday, Jan. 25.

Rescheduled games

The Wild also announced the dates for two rescheduled home games. The Saint John Vitos (107-1) will visit Credit Union Centre on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in an 8 p.m. start.

This game was postponed earlier this season due to wind restrictions on the Confederation Bridge.

Kensington will host the Bathurst, N.B.-based Northern Moose (1-21-0) on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7:40 p.m. This game was moved from Saturday, Dec. 15, due to the Wild participating in the 2018 CCM Midget AAA Challenge tournament in Chicoutimi, Que., next week.

In another schedule change announced Wednesday afternoon, the Wild road game against the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride (8-9-1) that was originally scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 23, will now be played at the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI campus in Charlottetown on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m. Kensington returns to league action at the Bell Aliant Centre on Friday against Pride at 7:30 p.m. The Wild will play their final pre-Christmas home game on Saturday against Saint John at 7:30 p.m.
