Senior competing in six PEISAA sports
KISH names its studentathlete of the month.
Abby Christopher can best be described as a multi-sport athlete at Kensington Intermediate Senior High School (KISH). The Grade 12 student will wear KISH’s uniforms in six P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior sports during the 2018-19 season. This commitment, along with strong performances on the soccer pitch, are two of the reasons she has been recognized as the school’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
Abby, the 17-year-old daughter of Blair and Tracy Christopher of Margate, was a key contributor in the Torchettes winning the bronze medal in the PEISAA Senior A Girls Soccer League. She played the striker and midfield positions.
Heart and soul
“Abby was the heart and soul of our team,” said KISH principal and soccer coach Donald Mulligan. “Abby is a relentless worker, who has the heart of a lion.
“She is extremely skilled, a scorer, a passer and a strong defender.”
Abby also competed in crosscountry in the fall, and currently plays the wing on the KISH senior girls’ basketball team. She will also compete in badminton doubles, and in the spring will play the outfield in softball and participate in running events in track and field.
Outside of school, Abby figure skates with the Kensington Area Figure Skating Club, and played on the 2018 P.E.I. Under-18 Girls Soccer League (Premier Division) champions, Summerside United.
Abby is also active in school life. She is the secretary of the student council, and is a member of travel and tourism.
Abby’s future plans include studying marine biology at university.
