Wild spreads out offence in win over Northern Moose

Total of 16 different players register at least one point

The Kensington Monaghan Farms received what can best be described as a team effort on Sunday.

The Wild received at least a point from 16 different players in an 11-1 road win over the Northern Moose at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre in Bathurst, N.B. Third-year veteran Colby MacArthur led the Wild charge with three goals and an assist. Keiran Gallant (1-2), Bennett MacArthur (1-1), Jack Campbell (1-1), Ryan Richards (1-1), Landon Clow, Duncan Picketts, Simon Hughes and Lucas Parsons rounded out Kensington’s scoring.

Isaac Wilson (3), Zac Arsenault (3), Kalib Snow (2), Zach Biggar, Ethan Beaulieu Dixon MacLeod and Matt McQuaid chipped in with assists. Jake Parker opened the scoring early in the first period for the Moose. Kensington took a 2-1 lead into the first intermissi­on, and extended that lead to 6-1 at the end of two.

Josh Smith made 23 saves in earning the goaltendin­g win. Kensington improved to 215-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), and is two points behind the league-leading Moncton Flyers (22-2-1), who hold two gamesin-hand. Northern is 1-25-1. Next up for the Wild is the Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam tournament at the BMO Centre in Halifax, N.S., later this week. Kensington’s opening game, which is scheduled to be televised on Eastlink, is against Cole Harbour on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Wild’s next home game is a 7:40 p.m. start on Friday, Jan. 18, against the Moose.
