The Lot 16 Community Hall has lined up a series of performances in January and February to add a little warmth to this chilling winter.

“We invite everyone to our ‘Kill the Chill’ Winter Concert Series where the warm hospitality of the Lot 16 Community Hall and some incredible musical talent will help to warm you up this winter,” said Lou-Anne Wolfe, a hall board member. “We have three great evenings planned… which offer something for everyone.”

Kicking off the series is group Rick Sparkes and The Enablers on Jan. 12.

Sparkes is an award-winning writer and musician from Summerside.

He and this band recently released their first full-length album “Trouble with the Light.” The first single from the album, “Nashwaak,” has been receiving regular airplay on radio stations throughout the Maritimes. Then on Feb. 9 the trio, The Vaudevillian will share their love of prohibition-era music. Made up of Jitterbug James, Norah Spades and Piedmont Johnson will play a mix of jugband stomps, ragtime and country will get hearts pumping and toes tapping.

Hailing from the Hamilton, Ont. Area, the trio recently recorder their first album, “Gamblin’ Bar Time Blues.” Their popularity with oldtime music fans continues to grow – the group has been kept bust performing at a variety of venues including a recent festival in Denmark.

The final event of the series is a songwriter’s circle on Feb. 23, featuring three of New Brunswick’s best new songwriters and a local favourite.

Colin Fowlie, takes influence from the likes of Chris Cornell, Alice in Chains, Eddie Vedder as well as contemporary artists like Chris Stapleton and Matt Corby. Fowlie has an album due to come out early this year. Kylie Fox offers bold and charismatic live shows with her story telling and introductions to her songs.

She pairs a folked-down version of a classically trained voice with tongue-and-cheek lyrics. Evan Leblanc is a singer/ songwriter from Fredericton, N.B. Most of the time he is known for being the front man of Fredericton based rock band “David in the Dar,” but when he takes the stage as a soloist, his catalog of music has something for everyone. Finally, nominated artist Danny Drouin will round out the songwriters circle.

All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The hall is located at 38 Ferry Road, in Lot 16.
