MURRAY, MARY “HELEN”

The funeral for Mary “Helen” Murray of Albany, wife of the late Arnold Murray was held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from Kinkora Place to St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay where funeral mass was celebrated at 1:30 pm by Fr. Ashok Veerabathi­na who proclaimed the gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by her devoted children Allan, Linda, Leona, Dale, Carl, Mary Ellen and Marilyn. Altar servers were Debbie Bernard, Charlie Wood and Tom Sherry. Cross bearer was Jenny Jessome. The first reading from the Book of Daniel was proclaimed by grandson, Nathan Murray and second reading from St. Paul to the Corinthian­s by grandson, Andy Murphy. Prayers of the faithful were led by granddaugh­ter Kaitlin MacPhail. Hymns sung were procession­al hymn, Be Not Afraid; communion hymn, Here I Am Lord; psalm, To You, O Lord I lift up my Soul and Prayer of St. Francis; post-communion hymn, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman and recessiona­l hymn, Peace is Flowing Like a River. Vocalist was Maribeth Noonan. Communion lay ministers were Leona Murphy and Helena Hamill. Pall bearers were Patrick Murray, Nathan Murray, Matthew MacPhail, Scott Murphy, Andy Murphy and Logan Willis. Flower bearers were Amanda Thomas, Kaitlin MacPhail and Whitney Murray. Helen was known and loved by many. The family consider all who attended the funeral liturgy to be her honorary pallbearer­s. Greeters were Ryan Campbell, and Carly Campbell. Attending the funeral were St. Peter’s Parish CWL who formed an honour guard. Also attending were representa­tives of P.E.I. Mutual Insurance. Interment will be later in the parish cemetery. Members of St. Peter’s Parish CWL said prayers prior to the visitation. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
