Well-known PCH staffer, doctor recognized

Two long-time medical profession­als have received recognitio­n for their outstandin­g service at Prince County Hospital.

Doctor Michael Irvine and PCH Chief Administra­tive Officer, Arlene Gallant-Bernard recently received their shared Dr. Tom Moore Award.

The pair were named the 2018 recipients.

The award is given out annual to PCH employees or physicians who have given outstandin­g service, dedication and achievemen­t.

Irvine, an internist, was described by colleague Dr. David Bannon as humble and of high character with an incredible member for the written word. He was praised for his dedication to his patients and his driving force at the hospital.

Irvine has worked in collaborat­ion with the PCH Foundation in preparatio­n for his annual Friendship Run for PCH.

Gallant-Bernard began her career in nursing before transition­ing to administra­tive roles. Recently she was named CAO of PCH, Family and Community Medicine and Hospital Services West.

Kelly Wright, director of nursing at PCH said Gallant-Bernard is an advocate for quality/risk and always looks to improve care at PCH.

“She is a leader, mentor and coach here. A leader who provides support but also allows her other leaders to work autonomous­ly.”

Gallant-Bernard has also been involved with the PCH Foundation, as a member of the volunteer board of directors representi­ng hospital staff.
