Raffle of ‘she shed’ raises money for QEH Foundation

CHARLOTTET­OWN - A QEH Foundation raffle for a luxury willow "she shed" has raised $76,575 for new mammograph­y equipment.

In a Jan. 12 release, the QEH Foundation said the shed was built by the Constructi­on Associatio­n of

P.E.I., with the help of its women in constructi­on committee. The luxury shed is is meant to be the female equivalent of a man cave.

Sponsors Sherwood TimberMart, Arsenault Bros. Constructi­on and Plank and Pine Interior Design, and others, ensured the shed was built and furnished at no cost to the foundation

“This project came together as a result of collaborat­ion among the Constructi­on Associatio­n of P.E.I., QEH Foundation and sponsors who saw the vision of this unique initiative,” said Sam Sanderson, general manager of the Constructi­on Associatio­n of P.E.I.

“We are proud to support the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, and we are grateful to see that the generous Island community made this so successful."

The eight by 12-foot willow shed is insulated, wired, solar-equipped, furnished and decorated with natural decor.

It also includes an eight by 10-foot patio with a patio flame and Adirondack chairs.

Linda Harris Ford of Cornwall won the raffle during a live stream on Facebook on Jan. 6.

Proceeds from the raffle helped the hospital purchase new mammograph­y equipment at a cost of $1.2 million.

QEH Foundation director of philanthro­py MaryEllen Hughes thanked those who helped support the project.

“We are already talking to our partners about a similar project for our next raffle,” said Hughes.
