Raffle of ‘she shed’ raises money for QEH Foundation
CHARLOTTETOWN - A QEH Foundation raffle for a luxury willow "she shed" has raised $76,575 for new mammography equipment.
In a Jan. 12 release, the QEH Foundation said the shed was built by the Construction Association of
P.E.I., with the help of its women in construction committee. The luxury shed is is meant to be the female equivalent of a man cave.
Sponsors Sherwood TimberMart, Arsenault Bros. Construction and Plank and Pine Interior Design, and others, ensured the shed was built and furnished at no cost to the foundation
“This project came together as a result of collaboration among the Construction Association of P.E.I., QEH Foundation and sponsors who saw the vision of this unique initiative,” said Sam Sanderson, general manager of the Construction Association of P.E.I.
“We are proud to support the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, and we are grateful to see that the generous Island community made this so successful."
The eight by 12-foot willow shed is insulated, wired, solar-equipped, furnished and decorated with natural decor.
It also includes an eight by 10-foot patio with a patio flame and Adirondack chairs.
Linda Harris Ford of Cornwall won the raffle during a live stream on Facebook on Jan. 6.
Proceeds from the raffle helped the hospital purchase new mammography equipment at a cost of $1.2 million.
QEH Foundation director of philanthropy MaryEllen Hughes thanked those who helped support the project.
“We are already talking to our partners about a similar project for our next raffle,” said Hughes.
