KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — Under the Spire Music Festival has announced the lineup for its 2023 season at the historic St. Mary's church in Indian River.

The festival, which began as a few standalone concerts to save the historic building, has grown into a fully-fledged, internationally-renowned festival that has hosted some of the best Canadian performers since its founding in 1996.

The festival's 2023 season will feature over 25 concerts and community events, including the return of some festival favourites as well as new performers and emerging artists.

The concerts will take place all summer long at St. Mary's church on Hamilton Road in Indian River. The season will kick off on June 16 with a performance by Jeremy Dutcher and will feature a variety of performers spanning multiple genres, including the Hard Times Orchestra, Ben Caplan and Irish Mythen.

A full list of performers is available online at www.underthespire.ca.

In addition to the concerts, the festival is also hosting songwriting workshops, preconcert talks and more. The festival will also have accessible community concerts and events this summer which will be announced closer to the season.

The overarching theme for this year's festival is Echoes. Festival executive director Lindsay Connolly said the theme represents the echoes of the past in the heritage building, the echoes of musical legacy touched on by all performers and the echoes of music that bounce around the venue.

"Whether you come for a concert, community event, or just to experience our magnificent 120-year-old building, I guarantee you will fall in love with what we have to offer," said Connolly.
